Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Recognizes
Cambridge Sound Management as a Small Business of the Year

WALTHAM, MA, October 7, 2014 – Cambridge Sound Management (CSM), a leading provider of sound masking solutions, today announced that it has been recognized as one of Greater Boston’s top ten Small Businesses of the Year by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Awards recognize the achievements of Greater Boston’s smaller for-profit companies with gross revenues of more than $1 million who display strong financial performance, achievement in management, workplace excellence, product innovation and community or social responsibility.

Cambridge Sound Management helps organizations reduce noise distractions and protect speech privacy through its patented direct-field sound masking solutions. The company was founded in 1999 by acoustics and audio expert Jack Heine and launched its first commercial sound masking solution in 2001. Cambridge Sound Management’s masking solutions are now used by over 10,000 businesses, hospitals and government agencies in over 30 countries, as well as by over 40% of Fortune 100 companies.

“We started CSM because we recognized that open office designs were rapidly changing and that distracting conversations were going to seriously degrade workplace productivity and comfort,” said Heine. “We knew that sound masking was a solution to these issues, and that businesses were going to need a simple and affordable masking solution to bring into the workplace. We invented CSM’s direct field technology to solve both problems, and the almost exponential growth in our installed base in the last decade shows excellent market acceptance.”

“We’re thrilled to be named one of the top ten small businesses of the year by The Chamber,” says Christopher Calisi, CEO of CSM. “Our employees work hard to abide by our core values of respect, results and teamwork, and it’s nice to see those efforts pay off not only in terms of growth, but also through the recognition of the Greater Boston business community.”

An awards breakfast for the ten honorees will be held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel on Thursday, October 9. This event will feature a panel discussion with senior leaders from each company on how to run a successful small business.

“For 30 years, the Chamber has hosted these important awards to celebrate Greater Boston’s flourishing small business community, and to honor a select group of top businesses for their accomplishments,” said Paul Guzzi, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber. “This year’s honorees exemplify the extraordinary impact that small businesses have across all industries of our economy, and we look forward to honoring them on October 9.”
